Just a quick video to show you how to take your database from windows and make it work for mac to save you hours of reanalyzing your tracks for BPM and key. As well, it saves your old cue points.

Here's a quick rundown:
Copy XML file to Desktop.
Edit XML file
- Find and Replace "\" with "/"
- Find and Replace "C:/whatever/" with "/whatever/"
- Change Version #
- Copy Favorite Folders (if applicable)
- Save and Close
Copy XML file to Mac
Chown to user
Open, play, and enjoy.

If you have any problems or questions, feel free to contact me at turtle @ djturtle.com .. I'll do my best to answer or find an answer for you.

UPDATE!!!
Since I'm receiving a lot of questions about going from Mac to Windows..

Installl VDJ on your PC.
Copy the XML file from your documents directory on your Mac to your PC's Virtual DJ directory (overwrite will be necessary).
Open the XML file in notepad.
Find and replace "/Volumes/whatever/" with "[drive letter}:\whatever\"
Change Version # if necessary...
Save and close.

Should work after that. You may need to run cmd.exe and chown to your user. If you need specific directions on this, please feel free to email me.

  • @DJWiLLsTaR You should be able to open it in any text editor. On Mac, TextEdit under applications. On Windows, notepad under accessories. Hope that helps.

  • Does this work from mac to windows?

  • @pickertr0 I don't see why it wouldn't. Just make sure the database file is able to be written to and read from.

  • Thank You very much man, I was actually switching from my bootcamp win7 back to mac and i wanted to use all my files that i had on bootcamp along with some mac files i had before. I followed your steps and after a while i figured out the only extra thing i had to do was change my

"E:/" to "/" (my mac files)

    and change

"C:/" to "/Volumes/BOOTCAMP/" (my windows files)

    thanks again man :)
