Making a book into a movie can't ruin the book, its just a version of the story as seen by a director. Of course the characters will not look how you imagine them. Often the characters aren't even much the same as they are in the book. Its not like they are making the book come to life. Just retelling a story their own way. The way all good story tellers do.
