This stupid plant would kill me instantly if i eat it! I can't even be near it because the skin on my entire body turns into something you've never seen before! Therefore, high doses of steroid shots need to go into my system to control the "rash"(which makes me look like a monster) so, my advice: Make sure you are NOT allergic to it before you try even touching it!

Just discovered you! I visit Western NY, generally during summer months-do you- give workshops in the Buffalo/Eden area?
Also, does lamb's quarter grow in 33143 (Miami)
Thank you

Isn't nightshade a deadly lookalike?

Thanks for letting me know. I always warn people about rare allergic reactions to new foods, but you're the first person I've ever heard of who has such a bad reaction to this one.

Don't know FL flora, but I'll come to Buffalo if you have an organization that can fund a fee and travel expenses. Also, check out my site (above) and app, WildEdibles (in the iTunes Store).

Black nightshade, if that's the nightshade you're referring to, is a hairy plant with triangular leaves that aren't white underneath, completely different flowers, and black berries. I don't think anyone has ever confused the 2 plants, although some people are capable of confusing species that look nothing alike, and those are the people who don't refer to field guides or online info.
