i,ve connected my snes to my vga box with a unofficial s-video cable.
the quality over composite is enormouse.
those artifacts wich are very vissible in the game fortex are nearly gone, on a normal tv i would get even a sharper picture with this cable.
however, the cable length must be limmited or you will get lossy quality.
and since i use a vga box,the signal has to go twice the distance as normaly it also has to servive the adc & dac conversion. so there micht be a litle degration.

  • yeah s-video quality is much better then composite.

but the quality is vissibly less,

that,s becouse duo those adc and dac conversions by the vga box, and the fact that it has to go twice the distance to your screen as it normally shut be!

  • good

  • you are a true gamer my friend

  • @jevansturner yeah man.. sometimes u just gotta live it up straight gangsta homie.. That console is cooler than a freaking ice in the neck... Keep it real homes.. Peace.

  • @0ddler Get a component cable, set the Wii to output 480p (a lot of PS2 games support 480P), and get a capture card or USB capture device that takes Component. That will be the best way to capture, especially for games that support 480p. Progressive scan is much better for display on a PC than interlaced video. A component cable still has the same quality as S-Video when the mode is interlaced, and better when it's progressive.

  • @lilcrazyaznboy My brain hurts.

  • Dude. Imma give it up to you mang.. That console is straight gangsta. Keep it real man.. That's when pac, biggie, all the good oldays were at.. Peace homes.. Thanks man.

  • This is continued from the last post

Do you know of any S-Video cables that will give me top quality on my PS2 / Wii in terms of video quality and that don't need a video out or too many cables?

I read your description and it say ssomething about it taking longer to get to and from the TV which is also alarming me a bit. Could you share whats on your mind in terms of what I'm talking about and I'd really like that!

  • I wish you talked a bit here to let us know some stuff about your setup.

I just bought a single S-Video cable. It's like a gold plated circular ended with little tiny metal rods inside both ends of the cable.

I want to use it for my PS2 and Wii for when I record walkthroughs of games to make the video quality rape sauce BUT I don't have a video out plugin on my TV.

I do have a VDA (video distribution amp) but I don't wanna buy two cables. I'd like to return this one and get a different cable

  • I have the S-video want the RGB, but they are hard to find. Still S-video looks better.

  • oh shit just got real!
