Paterson Eastside High is famous for its renaissance in the mid-1980s under the leadership of then-principal Joe Clark. The school and Joe were the subject of the 1989 film Lean on Me, starring Morgan Freeman.

I am Eastside High School too! Some of the best years and events in my life took place at Eastside High School. All our students have potential to achieve their God Given POTENTIAL! We were famous before the infamous Joe Clark and "Lean on Me" took center stage. What can be done throughout the country is to afford inner city children all over American a true Opportunity to LEARN! Remove the status quo barriers and we face our obstacles HEAD ON! It's so hard to be a Mighty Ghost!
