Orange jasmine is a valuable item in landscaping. In recent years, illegal loggers have chopped down many of the hundred-year-old wild orange jasmine plants in the reserved mountain areas of Yanping Township, Taitung. In order to protect these precious resources, locals have set up signs warning against illegal logging. They hope the reserve will regain their national beauty so eco-tourism can be developed.
