Chile's Llaima volcano erupts Jan 01/08

Raw video)January 01/08...The Llaima volcano in southern Chile erupted, sending up a huge plume of smoke and coating the surrounding wilderness park with ash, forcing the evacuation of dozens of tourists, emergency officials said.

There were no reports of damages or injuries.

The volcano is in the Araucania region in southern Chile, inside Conguillio National Park and about 82 km from the city of Temuco.

Local television images showed a column of dark smoke visible from many miles away.

Before the eruption, people in the towns closest to the volcano said they heard loud noises underground.

"We've ordered the evacuation of more than 100 tourists that were in the Conguillio reserve, where a lot of ash has fallen, Carmen Fernandez, director of Chile's National Emergency Office, told reporters.

The emergency office said the volcano began erupting at 18:20 pm and that lava was flowing down the eastern side of the mountain.

An official at the emergency office said it was still unclear whether the eruption would be brief or sustained.

The 3,125-meter Llaima volcano, one of Chile's most active, has frequent moderate eruptions

The very fact that it is underdeveloped just proves my point, it is these underdeveloped countries that are most commonly refered to as being 3rd world by the general public, and im afraid Chile falls into that catagory. Yup the andes are notorious for explosive eruptions, so much that the Andestitic type of volcanoes are named after the mountain range. These volcanoes erupt with a higher gas content, and more viscous lava. Resulting in very explosive eruptions

The volcanoes found in the andes are the result of the Nazca tectonic plate being subducted under the South American plate, this results in the Nazca plate melting in the mantle, huge chunks break off and rise back to the surface as magma chambers.

There's 3 points you missed out because your an incompetant fk.

1) Look @ the distance theyre recording from. Even a high def cam would'nt be much better.

2) This clearly isn't profesionally done, its likely done by an AMAUTURE and a local at that. Which leads to my 3rd point.

3) CHILE IS A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY, NOT EVERYONE THERE CAN AFFORD HD CAMS DUMBASS. Im 14 years old and i can understand this, Ur ignorance astounds me. 5* for vid.
