Grateful Dead - This is one of the monumental Jerry ballads from the later years. Enjoy this one folks... it will definitely ease your soul. Anyone who knows Jerry's music will understand what this song meant to him. An affirmation and definition of his life and travels.
This particular show was one of the highlights of my Dead touring days, easily one of the more inspired nights Jerry's final years in my opinion. Thank you Jerry for being here, although for not nearly long enough.
thank you guys!!!!

I saw this song performed on a few occasions, always very moving, and years later with a few more miles under my belt it means so much more than Jerry could have or maybe wanted to imagine given his genuine humility, to me and so many others who are just trying to find their way it's a timeless gift!

When I was 13, a friend and I stole 2 albums - The Who Sell Out and Grateful Dead. It took about 2 weeks of listening before I started liking then loving the Dead. The day before Jerry's passing I ordered tickets. The next morning a friend called to say she had heard the Jerry Garcia had died. I didn't want to believe it and spent a couple of hours looking for some news (I'm Canadian, so ...). When the sad news was confirmed, I couldn't even cry I was so sad. Thank you, Jer - so very much.

I find this song and Days Between just unbelievably sad... beautiful, but really sad... the songs seem to evoke a resignation that the end is near. It was like Jerry could feel himself winding down. And he really wasn't that old. I mean 53 is not that old. I know he lived a lot of life in his 53 years... a lot of wear on those treads and all, but I just can't help wondering how things could have turned out if he had gotten sober like Phil did.
