I used to have a superstar 360 fm... way back in the eighties..... good rig... same as the cobra 148 gtl dx mk2....had a mk1 aswell.. earlier

it sounds to me like the guy transmitting was on lsb but if you look closely at the rig you'll see it's on usb (but i'm not an anorak though)

Haha, i was probably tuning one of my radios and plugged it into the wrong antenna ^_^

Sounds a bit like someone messing with "voice inversion" with a roger beep on. That old voice scrambling you heard on cordless phones in the 80s-90s. Was also used on a cb echo/multi beep box called the "VC100 VC200" made by rflimited many years ago. Can be decoded with "invert.exe".
