This is the ex Guernsey lifeboat Sir William Arnold no. 52-02 one of the first Arun class made in wood before they changed to GRP. I am ex-RNLI crew and took her back to Guernsey from Cowes in rough seas in 1997 after a refit. She handled beautifully. This boat was involved in a rescue in the Channel in 1981 for which the coxn was awarded a gold medal and the crew bronze medals. She has pedigree and history. Look after her.

Yes she was the 2nd Arun built back in 1973 was 52 02. They changed later to superstructure we ar more used to seeing. Some say for the better as gave better view of crew on foredeck but there again, have had many RNLI lads say they preferred the aft arrangement as gave better protection to helm and a clearer view when towing
