  • This is a great video! My late step-father could play the harmonica a little, and I can play a few simple songs but NOTHING like this :)

  • @applepiegwendy I admire anyone who can play those things. It looks so simple. I always want to blow instead of inhale. I get it all mixed up. It is a magnificent instrument and isn't he grand with it? Charlie

  • Amazing! Where did you find this?

  • @patsaxon I forget the movie right now. I will try to find it and post it. Wasn't he something? Truly a great talent. Charlie

  • @Themaddprof I bought a chromatic last year and am finally getting to grips with it. I totally agree that the Chromatic is harder to play. Say what you want in terms of technique Larry Adler may be the best but I would rather listen to either Big or Little Walter or one of the Sonny Boys.

  • @goatface1000 There is no denying the greatness of Sonny Boy, Sonny Terry, Little Walter (who also played Chromatic), Walter Horton, and particularly Rhythm Willie Hood, the pioneer Deford Bailey, and in our own time Lee Oskar. It would be difficult to compare what these talented harmonicists do to Larry as they were mostly bluesmen and he played jazz and classical. But I've played both Chromatic and diatonics and Chromatics are much harder to play.

  • @Themaddprof Perhaps on the Chromatic Harmonica, but check out some of the blues players who play the 10 hole diatonic Sonny Boy Williamson, Sonny Terry, Little Walter, Big Walter etc.

  • You have just witnessed a master.....listen to the Glory of Gershwin album....you will lose yourself in it.

  • As fond as I am of Stevie Wonder, Toots Theilemans, and Lee Oskar, Larry Adler is simply the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) on harmonica.

  • And again what a genious sound ! Thats not only music thats art!
