Five short films that I contributed to the opening event of Flatpack No. 3, an independent film festival that took place in Birmingham UK in March 2009. The films illustrate events in the life of early cinema entrepreneur Waller Jeffs, a showman and cinema exhibitor who brought the earliest taste for moving pictures to Birmingham at the turn of the century. I shot using a Bolex Super8 camera, with Kodak Plus-X 100D black and white reversal stock, and transfered to DV/edited using Final Cut Pro. I used a few simple Melies-type camera tricks in some of the films. Waller Jeffs was played by Mr Simon Britton, the ghost of Mrs Jeffs by Katerina Pushkin.
