The popcorn smell

Hills was the best, there isn't a comparison anymore. Wish I could shop there now as an adult. I quit shopping wal-mart cold turkey 8 months ago. Haven't been back since. I'm not broke and shop locally. Buying less and not contributing to the Walmartization of America. In college I didn't shop there for 3 years and didn't break my budget...WALMART doesn't save you money!!!

I miss Hills sooo much. I even had a dream one night of a Hills commercial saying they were coming back. It was so real for a minute I thought I actually saw it. Wish they would come back.

@news89 Actually that's partially correct I have a cousin that worked for Hill's in pittsburgh area since the 70's till they Shuttered in 1998. To my knowlege they made profits did great buisness....but bad upper management is what claimed the stores...Then Ames took over the existing Hills stores and sold crappy way too basic merchandise, and they folded by 2001-2002..when Ames first came to Pgh, they took over what was Murphy Mart (formerly GC Murphy) in the mid 80's Ames took their place.

With the Ames take over of Hills back in the late 90's, it was in part of corporate greed which led to the demise, and worst part about that, Ames was a weaker business, not money wise, but customer wise, and then not too long after that, they went belly up in favor of Walmart.

I remember growing up, Hills, Kmart and Ames were all across the street from each other literally. There is still a Kmart in a town close by, and another getting ready to close in another. I hate you Walmart!

Wow, I didn't get the last part of the commercial at first because I forgot that girls used to wear flannels in the alternative style of the nineties. I can't believe it was mainstream enough to have in a commercial. haha

Yea, poor Hills. I used to go to the one down the street from me in Bethel Park, PA. Back in the early '90s, they would have Santa take pics free and (once) an Easter Egg Hunt in the parking lot. That and their hot dogs were the best even to this day. When it became Ames around 2000 or so, the store emptied, the prices went up, and the quality went down.
Was this like Marshals Kinta's and Ross?
