A Man Named Charles by Bill Hoffman
Charles came to the bus around the late 90s. He was homeless, he was on drugs, but he wanted to change his life. I told him it would be a long process to get a place through the shelter system, but it could work, at least to get a place of his own. We would have to work on the addiction part too. He reluctantly went to the city, got a Homeless ID number, and got into the process. He also kept coming to see me and we worked together to help him get clean, and give his life to the Lord. I would only see him occasionally and then hardly at all. Then one day, he came to the bus, (picture), years later. He had an apartment, was working, was clean, and a believer in Christ.
WOW! I couldnt believe it here was a once hopeless man, homeless, lost, addicted, lost in the shuffle of the system, now free! This is why we do what we do.;.. so that others may live. God has a plan for every person, and its every Christians responsibility to help the lost get found, and pointed in a God direction for their lives. Charles called me a few weeks ago. He said he still carries my card in his pocket, never goes any-where without it. He said he will never forget me because I was the only one who believed in him enough to stick it out with him until he made it.
wtf is this?
