"Atheists are intolerant"? Religious zealots wrote the book on intolerance be they christians or moslems. The danger from religious fanaticism comes when the belief becomes so dogmatic that it's advocates won't tolerate the existence of opposing ideas or those who hold them. The more extreme advocates of Christianity and Islam propose with pride the threat of hell fire damnation or the killing of infidels. THIS is intolerance at its sickest.

If you are a christian, you must believe that anyone who rejects Jesus as their god, will be killed or tortured for eternity. Everyone loves talking about seeing their family or living forever, but noone likes talking about what happens if you reject Jesus. Hell and eternal damnation are not in the old testament, they start with jesus, meek and mild. Ask any priest or pastor.

im atheist and im not intolerant. I have friends of all different religions. I have my beliefs and they have theirs and we all get along.

The Bible is full of accounts of intolerance towards Gods free gift of salvation and so is the modern world. The fact that there is a hell must motivate us all the more to tell people of the free gift of eternal life. God does not force eternal life on you, if you refuse it there is one other option but it is your choice. The o/t is full of accounts of Hell, Sheol, which Jesus explained clearly. The Jews of the day were familiar with demons and the torment they caused by the torment they are in.
