Disposable man in say...a bar: I am often not let in without a girl with me, I hold open the door, I give up my seat, I give my jacket, I put myself up for rejection by making the first move, a woman has no problem telling me to fuck off instead of politely declining, i am served after women at the bar, i buy drinks for women even though i dont earn much, if another guy has a problem with a woman i am with the anger is directed at me, i may have to fight to protect a woman's safety...and so on

Young men, boys getting raped. Yes. It's tough to to stop a female relative (aunt) when we are strongly told to respect our elders. I was a victim of 2 aunts at age 10 and then again at 13. Yes it was very weird to say the least and I was ashamed and afraid. Something inside said "This is not right". But whats a young boy to do? Keep spreading the word my lady!

@silvermirror03 I'm not saying I hate women. In fact I love women. I will just never marry one, or have a child with one. If I do find a good women, I will enter a committed relationship with her, much as gays. Many woman are single mothers anyway, so I really don't need to have a child. Then she doesn't have the option of trying to divorce me. I am successful and many women run away when I tell them this is the lifestyle I choose. because they cant take half my stuff.

@KalamityKrisAnimates Attack? Erm... no you are the one who started with the "ridiculous" comments etc. Look, mate, everybody can see what you've written. You do know that don't you? You've attempted an argument where there isn't one. While I don't expect everybody in the world to maintain the same opinion, like I said, you were argumentative "enough" to resort to the CAPSLOCK button and also to write many comments in response the more readable 1-comment-at-a-time approach.
-
@TableWolfMusic Enjoy attacked my writing and your fabricated perception of my personality, rather than re-examining your weak example of male disposability in games. I will leave you to it.
-
@KalamityKrisAnimates Oh my god, I cannot even read this monologue of yours in order by clicking "Sort By thread Beta". You really have exploded in a rant of inflated word count. What's all this ABC nonsense? You're just making stuff up as you go along now by fragmenting my sentances. What is the point in doing that? Mate, you are ridiculous. If you really want to start flinging mud at each other like "ridiculous" where will that get anybody? Keyboard warrior much? Oh dear.
-
@KalamityKrisAnimates Yeah, you really aren't getting anywhere with this are you? I'm not after a pat on the back from GWW. Lame accusation. And anyway, anybody could equally say you're after a pat on the back from women who agree with you. I never backtracked at all. Anybody can read over my comments and yours to see where you grabbed the wrong end of the stick and looked foolish. So now you're puffing your argument up to make it look bigger as it snowballs out of control.
-
@TableWolfMusic You posted your original comment to get a little pat on the back from GWW, but when someone challenged it instead you deem it "argumentative". I disagreed with your comment - I think you could have picked almost any game in the last 2 decades to make your point, but for some reason you chose a randomized clip from one of very few games with equal gender representation in both enemies and player characters. I never used caps. You backtracked and diverted conversation.
The end.

@girlwriteswhat I think it is very useful indeed that you have provided these statistics. However, I know what would happen if a man were to present these to somebody who objected. The man would be asked for references (such as hardvard refs or equivalent) to back it up. Without these, they would be discarded as fictional or misguided. Can you provide such proof to avoid this happening? I'm sure a lot of readers would appreciate it.
I think you mentioned that males experience domestic violence directed at them as frequently as women. I'm not really convinced that the rate is the same. Have the levels always been equal or is this occuring only in the last few decades or since the start of third wave?? Do govt statistics on violence support this opinion? I am asian and have not encountered any violence from women ( or heard/ witnessed any) to date ( i'm 32). Is this a trend predominantly among the caucasian populace??

@silvermirror03 Have the figures always been the same? They have since Erin Pizzey opened the world's first domestic violence shelter in the UK in 1971, and found 60 of her first hundred women were as violent as, or more violent than, the men they were leaving.
A woman beating her husband with a skillet has been so common for so long, it was a well-worn comic trope even in Victorian times, and I'm sure it crosses cultures. (cont)

@girlwriteswhat You would not have seen it because even in the west and even now, men face social abandonment and shunning *at best*, ridicule at worst, when they're "found out". I would expect in a culture with a strong culture of patriarchal norms and a "face saving" sense of honor, the social stigma would be much worse than even here.
Some fun facts:
-women hit first 50-70% of the time
-women are more likely to scratch, bite, attack genitals, use weapons

@girlwriteswhat
-the #1 predictor of severe DV injury in women is their own instigation of violence
-even very violent men are LESS violent in their relationships than outside of them
-most DV is reciprocal (both parties hitting)
-70% of all unilateral, severe DV is female on male
-mothers are the largest demographic of child abusers (raw numbers AND rates)
-severe injury rates (requiring medical attention or first aid) are not that much greater for women than for men

@girlwriteswhat. Thank you for the factual response. I moved to the US about a year back and am now based here. I guess i need to watch out for that frying pan ;-). On another note - women are now an integral part of the workforce - both govt and private sector. Outsourcing and govt austerity programs will impact them negatively. I wonder how the feminist movement is going to respond. These two factors might amplify the clash between feminists and its opponents. What do you think?
silvermirror03 2 weeks ago
@silvermirror03 One feminist recently characterized the US government's refusal to increase the deficit as "an attack on women". So I really don't think feminists will take well to any belt-tightening.
As for outsourcing, as long as the job losses only really affect men (manufacturing, tech, etc), I don't think they'll be up in arms over it.
