Dropin' Vagina Panties! That's the AMG way.

-Then everybody adds their twist to the story "yeah we knew all along" and "we saw a SLS running with Viper bodypanels" and so on. All lies to feed the myth. When I went to the Lamborghini factory in Italy, they did NOT confirm the claims that Lambo worked on the Viper engine and I think Ill take their word over internet spam and wild claims. Those really looking into it will easily find that the AMG SLS is based on nothing. its AMGs first inhouse car which isnt based on a mercedes.

Yes exactly. I studied social anthropology and marketing at university and marketing. My interests are in social trends and brand identity so its kind of a bi-effect of that which has led me to look into all these myths. A myth is started with a fact followed by a claim and sealed with an inability to easily prove it wrong. The fact is Chrysler and Mercedes WAS the same company for a bit, Vipers and SLS kinda look similar and its hard to prove it wrong.

@Janusha very interesting. car news is like politics...you never know what the truth is! i can see the physical similarities between viper and the mercs. love them all and the truth will come to light one day LOL. you would think that motortrend will get it right.

The lack of real, professional, independant motoring press in USA and the fact that USA is the last country on the planet without actual motor shows on TV (pimp my ride doesnt count) allows for wild claims, myths, corporate spam and feel-good stories to be confused for real facts. There are loads of these unsubstianted rumours that are told so many times that they become myths, facts and even get quoted in books. The most popular myths today are the americans "records" at the nurburgring.

This is all a big myth. Just like the myth that Lamborghini helped with the Viper engine. Chrysler C300 shares the LX platform from the Mercedes E class but the rest are wild claims and stories.
I saw when this myth started and because Motortrend spread it, nobody questioned the validity of it. If you ask google now, there will be 100 000 more or less serious car publications out there all adding their spin to the story. Hell its even quoted on Vipers wikipedia. All lies however.

@Janusha sorry to tell you that it is very true. merc and dodge shared tech with viper on both slr and sls. take a good look and some research and you will see for yourself. lambo helped with the first viper engine way back in the bob lutz days. chysler 300 shares platform with e class merc. these car makers all whore around with eachother and then break up soon after. reminds me of high school.
i just watched the top gear episode...and i can say..clarkson beat the living S*** out of the sls amg..so it was clarksons fault... watch it and see how fast he goes through the sets of tires.

Ok, i'm getting used to that we won't get 720p, especially on the daily stuff. But how about higher Bit rates? this looks like it was shoot with a mobile phone
But, the content is awesome.
