About this Countdown:

I'd first like to credit Underworld23, whose own Top 100 Battle Themes Playlist I viewed in its entirety. However, I couldn't help but think the entire time how much I disagreed with the list, no offense to Underworld23, of course. So I decided to take this cool idea on myself. And now we have my take.

Regarding the music chosen in this list: In the case that a theme appears in multiple games, I chose the version I preferred; All the music in this list is represented as it is heard in the game (no arrangements); Music from action RPGs are included at my discretion (as in, what I consider to be either an action RPG or an action/adventure game avid RPG players are likely to play and/or enjoy for the same or similar reasons they would any other RPG).

Fanboys/girls are bound to flip a $hit when this list is complete, but please don't personally e-mail me your own incensed fanboy/girl diatribes and opinions on this countdown

Of course, if you don't like this countdown, perhaps you will enjoy Underworld23's at:

It also seems that Setyll has one as well:

  • I love that final boss battle theme, and also, the dialogue was hilarious. Kudos to that.

  • Hahaha that dialogue was hilarious. I wish I could get that far on my FF IV DS, but it went and glitched on me. I just got to the moon and can't get back on my airship. It just disappeared.

  • Lol at the dialogue. Props to you on that :P

  • I. HATE. BIG. BANG!!!!

I nearly threw my DS because I was so pissed off >:^(

    Still an awesome theme though!

  • I'll admit that the SNES version was based on the Japanese "Easytype" and was thus a lot easier.

The PS1 version was based on the orignal Super Famicom version (which I've played) and was hard, yes, but still possible to keep everyone alive through Zeromus given my strategy above.

  • Nope, the PS1 version.

Where even the random encounters were epic struggles for survival.

  • Weren't playing the SNES version?

You obviously didn't save all the good throwing stuff then. The "Spoon" and all those late game swords can be thrown for good damage. Rosa's Cure(aja/4) plus Rydia's Sylph can keep everyone alive, even on the "hardtype" Super Famicom version, which all but the original US port are based on.

  • the annotations were creative XD

  • Your Annotations made me ROFLMAO!

  • clearly one of the best final fantasies ever. epic boss fight, can't get better than this. i musta beaten this game about a million times

  • plus, I love his name, Zeromus :)

  • The epicness of your victory knocked out the whole block, huh?
