"You and Me and a Manatee" (Manatee Song)

Here is a carefree song about playing in the water with mantees. This song was taken from our personalized children's music album, "Sea Animal Adventures." We have posted it here so that students who are performing the song can have easy access to it whlie they are are learning it. We have included a few video clips of manatees for your enjoyment. They are wonderful, peaceful animals that sometimes migrate from the warm waters of Florida to our South Carolina rivers and creeks.
Manatees inhabit the warm shallow, coastal waters. They can live in fresh or salt water. Manatees are herbivores and eat many different plant species and types of algae. An adult manatee will commonly eat up to 10% of its body weight (approx 150 lbs) per day. That's a lot of plants!

Its difficult for me to decipher what he is singing in a portion of the song. Can someone provide me with the lyrics? Its in one of the refrains when he sings, "They tell me we can........."

@bethanynlong --- Hi Bethany, The lyric is "They tell me we can drift along the old Santee, playing in the water with a manatee." The North and South Santee Rivers, named after the Santee Indians, run just south of Charleston, near Georgetown. They were also mentioned in the movie, The Patriot. Hope this helps!
