How do I make a sharp shadow, say, to simulate a fluorescent light on a glossy black surface?
-
what about the orientation, as in north/south/east/west orientation of the building? how do i control that?
-
all this is covered in chapter 2 at some point
-
so I have the pro version but the shadow box doesnot appear no matter how many times I click on it. Is there any way I can fix this?
BTW, your book is very helpful thank you.

I Have The Pro Version, How Do I Do This?

Wouldn't the shadows not only be dependent on the time of day and the date but your location as well? Without the location data there's no way to accurately model those shadows.

Excellent point! In the free version of SketchUp, you use Google Earth to "geolocate" your model (say where on Earth it is); in the Pro version, you can choose a geographic location in the Location tab of the Model Info dialog box.
