If you ever go across the sea to Ireland,
then maybe at the closing of your day,
you can sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh,
and see the sun go down on Galway Bay.

Just to hear again the ripple of the trout stream,
The women in the meadow making hay,
just to sit beside the turf fire in a cabin,
and watch the barefoot gosoons as they play.

ooooh......

For the breezes blowing o'er the sea's from Ireland,
Are perfumed by the heather as they blow,
And the women in the uplands digging praties,
Speak a language that the strangers do not know.

Yet the strangers came and tried to teach us their ways,
And they scorned us just for being what we are,
But they might as well go chasin after moon beams,
or light a penny candle from a star.

And if there's gonna be a life here after,
And faith somehow I'm sure there's gonna be,
I will ask my God to let me make my Heaven,
In that dear land across the Irish sea.

I will ask my God to let me make my Heaven,
In my dear land across the Irish sea.

oooooooh......

In my dear land across the Irish sea.

  • Really nice version of the song.

  • Chloe's voice has matured so much.

  • It's really funny y'know. Although I was born an American, and am brandished with the name "African American," "Black," or in a derogatory light a "Negro," I also have Irish, Chinese, and Native American roots. I love traditional music, and am drawn to it. It's almost like something in my blood calls out to it, and the culture behind it. Thank you for the upload. :)

  • why oh why don't we have this music in our main stream radio stations because thus is music, when you can feel the passion for the song in the voice it just makes it ten times stronger and and easier to connect with others... i will continue to buy there cd's for as long as the release them.

  • I can't wait to go to Ireland soon, and finally see the beauty that my family came from. <3

  • @Creaky1964 haha yeah, i mean i may be only part Irish, but its still in there

  • their beauty comes from their hearts, and thats why they have so wonderful voices.

    I love them.

  • @Creaky1964

    And I wish I was!!:)

  • I remember my dad singing this song with my uncle playing the piano. It left a mark in my heart that is still just as alive as it was then. That was 56 years ago I remember it like it was yesterday! It seems that harsh times bring out the best in some people , the spirit of this song captivates our heart to believe and have a sense of pride in who we are and realizing God certainly knows and made us that way!

  • i wish i could sing like this. my friends say i sing really prettily (did that make sense?) but i wish i could sing like the Celtic Woman and to be as pretty as them too....this song really touches your heart :')
