Die by the Sword + Wiimote + Nunchuk + GlovePIE + PPJoy = Awesome

It's Wii-ish VSIM. No sensor bar is used in this so I have to twist/tilt the wiimote to swing the sword, but it's not bad. Generally I can swing the sword well enough.

And the script has the wiimote vibrate when it gets enough acceleration. It's not bad, too.

The script is here.

New version(psued analog turning with Nunchuk) is here: http://blog.livedoor.jp/b2pencil/archives/620212.html

[About the setting of PPJoy]

Select "Modify the mapping for this controller" in the first of the PPJoy's mapping wizard. You need to set 2 axes. Then map X axis as Axis1 and Y axis as Axis2 in "Define the number and type of axes...". Then set Analog0 as X Axis and Analog1 as Y Axis in "Configure mapping for axes". Other PPJoy settings are not needed for this script. Also if you use WinXP you must set PPJoy Virtual Joystick as the default device used in an old application, in control panel of the joystick.

About the Nunchuk thing, it just performs a custom movement which I have set for the shield/off-arm so you need to make the similar custom movements and set them for your custom movements.

[How to make the shield movement]

I will explain how to make a keep-the-shield-up movement that allows player to swing the sword independently of the custom movement playing.

Firstly, make only the Offarm/shield record then record it to hit keypad 8 to move the shield up.

Secondly, make Body record(red triangle), Arm stop(square) and Offarm play(yellow triangle) then record it until the shield's play ends.

Thirdly, cut the excessive frames. I set the frame length about 20.

Now you can use it with Nunchak motion after mapping it in DbtS configuration. Btw I use 4 shield movements; up, down, right-to-left and default position.

  • You seem to have strange particle effects happen when you hit or clash with your opponent.

Is that because you're running it in hardware rendering?

  • It runs with dgVoodoo(one of Glide wrappers) and the particle is rendered by that, I think. I don't know other case.

  • i don't know any PC language... i am amazed at what you did here. i am just wondering how do you select your target? is it auto targeting, like auto lock-on? or you could lock-on to the enemy you picked? and how do you control your camera in the game?

  • This game has 2 camera modes. Default cam is auto targetting and it's kinda messed up. I use behind cam and I can turn about the charactor with Nunchuk buttons.

  • I wish developers would take a hint and realize a sword fighting doesn't necessarily mean you have to hold the wiimote like a sword. It works hilariously clunky in DbtS with a mouse and a Wiimote seems to bring it a lot of accuracy.

  • I hope developers of Wii watch the video and make a DbtS-ish game. I really think so today.

  • I really dont understand why similar game was never developed for the Wii. Zelda SS comes close though :-)

    Also: You rule! :)

  • @icexmanx12 Er, nunchuck has a motion sensor. But I didnt even see him claim to use it for motion. Also there is always a bit of lag with motion control, and I could see certain angles that controlled the sword better than others. Meaning it's real.

  • That's cool. Die by the sword was really bad ass back in the day

  • This is a fake the nunchuck does not control motion and probably recorded this nd moved with it do you see how much he lags the remote? Fake.

  • you predict the legend of Zelda game 2011 project xD, 1000000/10

  • @Vampiress112482 Why almost? ;D

  • ha you still have a crt screen. nice

  • Fake

  • Best way to play DBTS ever. Almost makes me want to get a wiimote just for this.

  • Did you release the script? Can you give me it pls? :)
