I was really sorry to read that he died in December 2009 - what a great talent. I love his playing and these YouTube videos of his are a wonderful legacy. Rest in peace knowing you've bought beauty to us all.

Does anyone else feel like this is a Baroque shuffle rhythm? I think I first saw this video right after attending a university jazz ensemble concert. The similarity was astonishing---I promply Googled various combinations of "Bach" and "jazz" and words like "precursor".
Interestingly, it seems Bach was known more as a genius of improvisation rather than a composer during his lifetime.
