When I saw the title the first thing I thought was harmonic minor, and it pretty much is. This scale structure is not limited to middle-eastern culture, but you can hear it in all cultures in the Mediterranean. Seriously, Turk, Greek, Spanish, they all have influence of this particular scale. Not that it really matters. Music is music.

actually true Arabic scales require the use of quarter tones which you would have to defret your guitar (or be an expert at bending to exact pitches) to play
