@Chilldogg Pathosbedlam shared my concerns. I'm in Upstate NY where the winters are COLD not just cool. Below zero or near zero temps are common in the winter. An enclosed compartment is nice but a closed freezer is still a freezer. Is this something they are working on to be more like regular gas burning cars with climate controls like Heat, defrost and air conditioning? Oh and without being ridiculously priced?

It is awesome indeed !!!

@alyman01 Fact: EVs use energy more efficiently than internal combustion... 70 to 80% vs. 20 to 25%. Fact: even coal burning electrical generation is cleaner than tailpipe emissions per unit of energy produced. Fact: every year, more renewable energy goes on the grid and EVs are able to use that energy. Fact: EVs cost more up front, but the cost of ownership is lower due to better efficiency and less maintenance. And finally, if you can't find an outlet, you're not looking...they're everywhere.

how much is this?

@alyman01 Dont even start with Top Gear please. They also said, the Tesla Roadster was empty even though it wasn't and they also said, we need no CO2 regulations because nature produces the most CO2.
They drive to a beach because they KNOW that they can't charge up there. There are many shows that drove the cars where they suppose to be, in a City.
Watch the documentary "who killed the electric car" then you will think different.

@EinBick i agree but i just dont think any countries are ready for electric cars yet, someone had a clever idea of owning the electric car but not the batteries, then at stations you simply swap your flat batteries with the new charged ones. Top gear did an episode where they tried to get to the beach but there was nowhere for them to charge their cars. Its a bit like making a car before inventing the petrol station

@alyman01 Even if you use electricity ONLY from a Powerplant that burns coal, any electric car produces less CO2 than any petrol car (about 78 gramm/kilometer). But you have to remember, do the same thing with petrol. Petrol produces a lot of CO2 BEFORE it comes into the Gas Tank of a Car. Because it has to be shippet and pumpet. And then it produces CO2 again when being used in a car.
Nice, I'd love one for trips to town for groceries, but what about when it's raining and your freezing your ass off. I am in Tasmania, and the weather is a bit unpredictable, so a fully enclosed one would have to be an option. But if it's done cheap enough I think a lot of people would love one of these. I really think it should be under 15,000 dollars AU or it won't sell enough numbers to make the market worthwhile, for investment in the infrastructure, like pay recharge ports at supermarkets.

@pathosbedlam hey thanks for your thoughtful comments. This car is being developed in Eugene, Oregon which is known for its cool rainy winters, so the company is developing models that will enclosed to keep you comfortable in bad weather. As I understand, they are also trying to keep the price around $17,000 US. Go to Arcimoto(dot)com and you can see the line-up of electric vehicles that they are developing.

so this electric, super nature friendly car gets the electricity from where? unless you have some sort of solar cell or wind turbine from the future your still using the fossil fuels to power it somewhere down the line. We need to find some way to properly harness the sun and wind before trying to mak something that uses the energy that is not there.

@alyman01 this electric car is being developed in Oregon, where most of the power is hydroelectric. Just think in the future when more people have solar panels on their houses and can get much of their energy to charge this car from the sun. Thanks for commenting!
