To save using three tubs, I would suggest using one big tub in your sink, but instead of chopping the veggies up, separate each leaf by peeling or cutting them off the base/stalk, and washing them one-by-one, rubbing them lightly with your fingers under light running water, then putting them in a colander so the dirt that washes off doesn't get back on.
When you've finished washing you'll have filled up a decent amount of water in your tub, which you can then use to water your plants outside.
