This is a ridiculous scenario. The first thing this manager needs to understand is that performance conversations (aka crucial conversations) happen every day, not just at review time. Doesn't give me much confidence in the product.

If the lady had done the prior evaluation efficiently and set him SMART targets and/or CPD program, included guidance and monitored his progress, she wouldn't be in this situation.
