  • NLP has influences from many sources. Bandler and Grinder are the most well known, but they were influenced by Erickson, and Bateson as well as Satir. The term itself "neurolinguistics" comes from Korzybski back in 1936. As far as specific influence of Nietzche on NLP, I don't know of any particulars, but I would be surprised if he didn't influence the early thinkers of the 20th century who inspired those that "created" NLP. Even passages from the New Testament are said to have NLP "patterns."

  • real life inception

  • 'Backwards rationalisation', as you call it, was written about by the philosopher Nietzsche in his 1886 book, 'Beyond Good & Evil'. I know that Derren Brown has the full collection of Nietzsche's works. Do you know of any Nietzschean influence on NLP?
