6233, 70013 & 60163 Steam Up York! Saturday 19th September 2009

what a day although it didn't go as planned, on the 19th September 2009 4 railtours were due to be in york (orignally 2 but 2 had been re-routed via york) they were;

| The Heart of Midloathian - Headed by LNER A4 Class 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'
| The Tyne Valley Tourer - Headed by Class 57 57601 & Class 47 D1648, then changed to Stanier 'Corination/Duchess' class 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' at York, orginally routed Via Settle
| The Cumbrian Mountain Express - Headed by BR Standard 7MT 'Britannia' Class 70013 'Oliver Cromwell', orginally routed via Settle
| The Cathedrals Express - Headed by Peppercorn Class
A1 Pacific 60163 'Tornado'

i saw all but the Heart of Midloathian, i was delayed at home and i missed the 6 o'clock bus(yes early start!) and all the others after were much later, meaning i would miss it, but how ever than was more than made up for with the 3 other pacific type locos heading into york.
i also left before 60163 left york with the return to kings cross due to me feeling ill, i started to get a migrane just as 60163 headed for servicing, i tryed to carry on but i decied to leave as i was feeling really out of it, i'm sorry for this.

lets hope more days like this happen in the future!

Note the photographers who trespassed onto the platform ramps. A similar incident ocurred earlier that day at P'boro with Tornado, leading to tannoy requests for them to desist. These idiots will spoil it for the majority, if they continue.

yeah there were a few nutters out there today tresspassing, one was stood over the rails! its those who will enevitably end mainline steam as we know it

Excellent video as always Dec, and nice to see a variety of engines. I'm coming up to York to see 60163 on the 3rd June. Which platform does 60163 normally come in on? Also, can you recommend any good places that are quite close to York? Thanks.
