@snicholson i have to disagree with you. during my 12 years in the education system ive never been actually engaged in the study process. in the end being bored at school doesnt mean that its not the place for you, it just means your teacher is unable to keep you interested. im generally interested in most fields of life, but ive rarely met teachers who can teach u anything practical, or at least interesting.

Thanks for this video. I am starting the MSLIS program at Syracuse this summer, and this is a wonderful way to help me explain to my family why I chose to make librarianship my career, and explain better to them what librarians do.

Thank you for this information. I really want to become a librarian.

Ah, so it wasn't just my city library that happened to be really loud. If it's a general trend I think I understand a bit better. At the beginning I was pretty angry that the library had kids playing and people talking on their cell phones, but after a while I began to value the library as a community place, where I could meet people and talk with people. It became more than just a place to check out books and read, and I think the library benefited and I benefited from it.
I'm interested in becoming a librarian. I was wondering how much you get pay as a librarianship, and what do you need to be like the director of a library, ex. PHD, etc...?

Pay is all over the place. Starting pay is typically in the 40s. Director of an academic library usually requires a PhD, but director of a public library usually doesn't.

Sounds like it's not the career for you. Also, I wonder what school you are attending; at the program I am in charge of, the students do learn quite a bit. But, we're also a top-ranked program at a private school, so I want to make sure the students get what they pay for.
