REEP energy advisor Dave Klassen, speaks about REEP's Energy Audit for Faith Buildings.
We like to meet with the people that are involved in operating the church, who know the building, to find out as much as we can about the facility.
We look at at least three years of energy bills (gas and electrical consumption).
We then walk through the building and look at everything from light bulbs to toilets, wall composition, windows, doors, weatherstripping and more.
Ideally we like to do a blower door test to identify drafts and measure air leakage.
At the end of the audit we submit a report containing all of our findings and estimates of savings that could be achieved.
Then the church can decide which upgrades it would like to undertake.
