A performance where there is plenty to nitpick about, but one has to be engaged by the energy and imagination. Sure, 6:30 - 6:40 is not that of a great artist, nor is the camera person deciding to zoom very late - first in adoration of her head and only then at the fingers. All this aside, this is what interpreting a work by a Romantic composer is all about - develop an idea, make it as compelling as you know how, and engage your audience. Let others be note perfect and sterile.

Absolutely amazing! What a great musician - performances like this one immediately find the short-cuts to our souls, squeezing them to tears of happiness, making us grateful to the essens of humanity that makes it possible to experience great art at its best. I almost feel able to walk on the water myself... By the way, has Ms Licad by any chance recorded Liszt's B-minor sonata?

i wovder why was this piece called saint francis walking on the waves
For those of you who did not like Ms. Licad's performance of LISZT's 2 Legends at the 2003 Minneapolis concert, this is the real thing. By some indications such as exaggerated base tones and more robust sonority than usual, I am convinced that in the 2003 concert she was demonstrating the capability of the modern piano to produce orchestra-like sounds as she did in another concert. This is a terrific performance and I enjoy it more than the 2003.

It's the sound quality of recording. The 2003, Rach 3 concerto & the Chopin Op.25 & Rach Sonata were captured by regular camcorder. These video cams are not equipped with wide range of high-and-low frequency capability of the professional cameras - like those of Tchaikowsky & Saint-Saens Copncertos.
