Sony DSC-TX7 AVCHD Direct MTS File upload.

This camera is awesome! I did a bunch of research before settling on the TX7 and I have to say that I am pleased with the video quality. I basically didn't want to carry around 2 devices to capture high quality video and stills. This camera has the best video picture quality that I've seen so far from a sub compact point and shoot. Cameras that I've tested so far are the Canon SD980is, Flip Mino HD, Sony Bloggie, and the Sony TX7. The TX7 wins hands down. I think I'm gonna keep this one!

  • this video was shot using the avchd format on the camera right? i head the .mov format was better for uploading what is your take on this? i been trying to upload a video that is like 50 seconds in length and its taking over 50 min to upload on youtube. any intake ?

  • @deezm05 YouTube accepts native AVCHD files now which is typically a .MTS file. .MOV can have different types of compression inside of it. It sounds like the .MOV that you're trying to upload is not very compressed at all. YouTube recommends the .MP4 format with H264 compression. If you're editing your video, you should export to .MP4 if you want to upload to YouTube. If you're just uploading directly from the TX7 camera, you should just upload the native .MTS file or the .MP4 file.

  • Great vid!. What's the memory like? How many minutes of HD recording can you film on say a 8 GB card in AVCHD?

  • @joshk0007 In AVCHD you can probably fit about 1 hour and 30 minutes on an 8GB card.

  • @bengalz3 Yes, this camera allows you to take 16:9 wide still photos.

  • @018009000 Let's see:

    1. I haven't actually recorded video until the battery dies. I've filled up my 8GB card though on 1 charge. That's about 1hr and 20min worth of video. It was just about dead after that though.

    2. I haven't tested this out either. The longest movie that I've captured was just under 1GB. I had a Canon sd980is and a canon sd1100is and both could record over 1GB.

    3. I actually have a 58s. movie thats 88.8MB.

  • Help!!! i really like this digital cameras, but i have a couple of questions before i can run to best buy and get it!... PLEASE HELP ME ANSWER THIS 3 QUESTIONS!

1.- How long can you record in video mode (Battery life)?

2.- Does it have a limit for video recording ( I heard tha canon Digital cameras have a limit of 1 GB)

3.- In this case, a video 57 seconds, Whats the size of the video in MB or GB?

  • @bearicuda Does this camera take 16:9 pictures? I have a Kodak V1253 and it does, I love it and the widescreen part and if I upgrade to this I still want to be able to take widescreen photos.
