Local artists, including Brooke Barclay of the Museum of Fine Arts - Houston, lead about 50 cancer survivors as they created inspirational watercolor paintings and collages as a form of creative expression.
Through this therapeutic art exercise, survivors told their own unique stories of their individual journeys through paint brushes and canvases. The patients are survivors of differing types of cancers, including breast, colorectal, prostate, melanoma and lymphoma cancers.
The February 16, 2010 event, held at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic's Main Campus at 2727 W. Holcombe, marked the third anniversary of Kelsey-Seybold Clinics Breast Cancer Support Group.
This support group, sponsored by the Kelsey Research Foundation, the Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society, meets monthly at Kelsey-Seybolds Main Campus near the Texas Medical Center. It is designed to help women learn to live, understand and cope with a diagnosis of breast cancer.
