BOLT Begins Re-Training Cop - Or, Bad Cop; No Donut

A cop had been causing serious problems for riders in Vacaville, writing many helmet tickets, along with various other types of harassment, and Civil Rights violations. We jumped in and got our own tickets, instead of just helping them with their court paperwork.

BOLT members rode to Vacaville 6-26-09 to find the 4th Amendment violator cop.
We easily found him.




Our helmets are legal, but irresistible to an uneducated cop. All the cop had to do was find the case law relating to helmet enforcement. We were gonna just go get helmet tickets but it turned into a confrontation when the cop wanted to "take my helmet off."
Uh.... Nope. Not without a Warrant, officer.




Police use intimidation and lies to convince you to obey them.
Many who have seen this video consider it a teaching tool. They could be right. Notice how the cops back off when they realize they can't fool you.




Through court documents, we discovered how many legal mistakes the cop knew he was making, and how many mistakes he didn't know he was making. How much trouble did he cause himself for doing this without Probable Cause?

It's amazing we have to go an hour away to find a small town cop before we can get helmet tickets. But after this, the cop was taken off the motorcycle during his shift. This lasted for several months.

State and federal case law calls what he did, a violation of the rider's 4th Amendment Right.

The officer can do whatever he wants to as long as they can't prove he did it maliciously and on purpose.

Maybe 2 guys got some legal knowledge. Shouldn't a cop that is violating the law and violating your 4th and 14th Amendment Rights be stopped? I filed the Internal Affairs Complaint last Thursday. Case law in CA says it's a helmet and case law says the cop's in trouble.

The thing is, the cop gave him a ticket, then went on to ask for his helmet, its a bit like a cop giving you a ticket for a busted back light then demanding you fix the light there and then. ass holes or not, the bikers had a right to refuse any more interaction with the cops

I thought the Cop handled it very well due to the me constantly questioning him. but taking a picture of a person because you want to win a case? As a future Game Warden I would have never treated these men in such a crude manner.
