This was taken with my cell phone, so it is poor quality, but I had to share it. Taken at The Fret House, Covina, CA 10/27/07. I miss you John.

  • Oh, Caron - that brought tears to my eyes.

  • I only wish I could get a clearer copy. Cell phones are not the best for clarity.

  • OMG I grew up in Covina, grew up shopping at The Fret. John grew up nearby, how fitting that this location may possibly be the last video of him performing. Thank you very much for posting this! I miss him too, like we all do but the superior music and words live on...

  • We all miss him and the KT performances. They always seemed like a friend to me.

  • This man's still criminally underrated music & legacy is as deep and important as that of Johnny Cash.I can't believe I was dumb enough to have missed him performing live......he didn't just give us "Gold", he left us TREASURE!

  • I can't hear this song without tearing up, it's that beautiful an image. I guess those of us that grew up with these great songs are getting old and nostalgic. R.I.P. John, we miss you.

  • KitJR50-

Well, you spoke for me too...Indeed you did.

I discovered JS through a friend 1979 and bough my first tapes shortly thereafter. Will we ever see this particular kind of singers emerge again? From dust bowl or cotton farms...

    Yrs truly, H.

  • I used to go to the original Fret House during my college days at Cal Poly in the early 70's. Always heard great music while just sitting on the floor with friends.

John Stewart; what an incredible songwriter. Anyone just discovering this man for the first time has a lot to search for and discover. The true troubadour of Americana. For my generation who grew up on folk music, his passing signaled the end of an era.

  • Well, Caron, if this is the last, how appropriate the song.

    Still can't believe it.

    Rod

  • Interesting to see, Caron. Thanks for sharing.
