Actually, it is called a Toe-Pincher, not because there is not much room, but because the narrow bottom end holds or "pinches" your feet together when buried face-up, which was considered far more dignified of a way to be buried. The term "footpincher" just never sounded good. There is actually quite a lot of room in one of these, if built to traditional measurements.

Why is this called a toe pincher coffin?!!

@blasticpuddhas These coffins are called "toe pincher" because the bottom of the coffin (where the feet of the body are) is very narrow. It "pinches" your toes so-to-speak because there is not much room.
