  • Does "Presence of Mind" have a "Quint at Window" equivalent? :-)

  • I think so - I'll check tomorrow.

  • i am EXTREMELY confused about the ending to this storyline. does miles live or not? if not, how does he die and why? and what about his sister. What were the couple doing to both children throughout? pleasee explain? :S

  • @XxIc3Bb3Xx Miles dies at the end of the story. Why he does is open to interpretation. Do you believe that there are ghosts possessing the children? Then you could say Quint killed him. Or was the governess insane due to her sexual repression...and she scared poor Miles to death (I suspect heart attack - in some versions, it implies she broke his neck). No one really knows what happens to Flora. Mrs. Grose takes her to London and that's the last we see of her. One thing is certain...

  • @XxIc3Bb3Xx See below for other answers...but it is pretty clear that Quint and Miss Jessel were abusing the children.

  • I agree with you, TOTenthusiast. His death is open to interpretation. Sometimes, I feel sure that the governess was at fault, because she was insane. Yet, since I love all things paranormal, I like to think that this is an off-beat ghost/possession story.

  • *grins*

  • @ebf1957 Yes, I DEFINITELY heard Miles neck snap in the 99 version.

  • Quint in "In A Dark Place" looked like a scoocer hooligan. Didn't like it. The "Masterpiece Theatre" version was more in the telling of the story in how how Quint looked. "Presence of Mind" was fair. Was more in the style of the "The Innocents. In '99 TOTS, the governess might've broken Miles' neck. I heard like a snap as compared to his heart giving out. I don't know if anyone noticed.

  • Oh, do tell about the Italian version! Did they turn into into a softcore giallo splatter flick?
