This is an OBO. OBO means Oil, Bulk, Ore this means that she can carry wet and solid cargoes. That's why she has side rolling hatch covers for bulk cargo. On the contrary for oil (wet cargo) vessel is equipped with tubes, hose crane and catwalk.

Did your father ask the captain why he entered the strong gale force9? :) Do you know how the vessel bends between the wave tips?
