I shot JC in this suit. Killy was so famous we gave him a code name. His code name could be shouted out and no one would look. He is a dear dear guy.

I photographed this man many times. He is a Saint.

wow, skiing has changed a lot. i race on 165 slaloms and 185 gs skis, those would be miniskis by those standards
i wouldnt change how skiing is today, i love it, but man, i look back on videos and nostalgia like this and think, man these were the epic times. all you guys who lived through this era were lucky! haha

This is the way I remember skiing. I had a pair of 200cm 650 sts. Then I got some elan 05s That comment someone made about jetting off the tail of the skies really was fun. Start the pressure on the tip and end on the tail. I rented a pair of elan 08s
one time. True GS skis. Boy could you track on those..fast and stable. Maybe like todays super g skies.

He Lehmann108,
I raced with Rossignol Roc 550 & ST 650 - 207 & 210cm back in college. They were provided by Rossignol for those who wanted it in our team. I have kept them as memories, my only sponsored pair of skis! It is amazing, at 5' 9", we skied slalom & GS on such long skis!
Do you still ski?
Cheers, L

Well, everybody got long skis then. My dynastar infinity axiom 203cm:s were nice in deep, but wobblers on icy snow. I still have them, but usually I ski now with modern stuff. I'd like to find the movie Killy was on: Snow job(1972). Trailer anywhere?

Does anyone know where to find the DVD version of this movie? I think it is Cyber Vision instructional ski video?

I used to race on Rossignol Strato's and Dynamic VR-17's in the late 60's early 70's. Those things would carve like rockets on hard back. I liked the 17's the best. amazing ski.

Pretty amazing skiing and especially considering he's on skinny straight skis.

Sweet
Killy came to a ski camp I was at in 1970-Lange International Racing Camp at Mammoth Mountain. He could ski so well. He ran a course and we all went over to look at his perfect carved turns in the salted snow. I have never seen anyone with such body control and quickness in my life. It was otherworldly. Parabolics-skis on training wheels!

Great to hear from all you guys. I'm back into skiing after decades of family/work/hobbies. Lots of catching up on YouTube and EpicSki. I found a pair of K2 Killy Heats and a pair of Dynamics. As a teenager I could only dream of seeing a guy like Killy or Kidd in action; I could only dream of being at a hill with gates and a course. Some of you guys got to do both! I can visualize the epiphany of looking at a beautiful line in spring snow, years before a word had been coined for that skill.

I agree, I've also been looking for Snow Job. When JCK did the 180 after skiing halfway up the side of a couloir, I went out the next weekend and tried to emulate my hero. No style points. Somebody out there help me, did his co-star in the movie become his girlfriend or more?
