Song: Angel's on the Moon by Thriving Ivory
Footage: Self-made, Various news coverings of september 11th, 2001
Overall Intent: I wanted to depict the girl looking befuddled. Her inability to create something--to be specific, something patriotic to her country. But soon her tribulations are diminished as you see her head clear and as such, the screens dark corners disappear. (As some sort of symbolic filming...)
Running to her house and painting what she personally feels is a masterpiece, the girl's memories surface of 9-11. The fateful day that shocked america. The heartbreak everyone felt and the impact it took on every generation at that time manifested this deep inspiration for the girl in the film.
I tried my best to project this deep message. Sadly I don't think anyone could--even with the most advance technology, but I tried either way. With one simple camera and a tripod, this is what I have to present to the public today.
Filmmaking Project I had to string together. :/
I had a week to think up an idea as result of my procrastination and i thought, "well 9-11 is pretty powerful and people seem to be forgetting it."
I know it was a painful thing america endured, and most just want to forget it--but doing so will leave the victims' deaths in vain. We need to cherish what we have and keep the memory clear in our minds.
I doubt the song was made for 9-11 but the lines:
"This is to one last day in the shadows
And to know a brother's love
This is to New York City angels
And the rivers of our blood
This is to all of us, to all of us"
seemed to reference it in some shape or form.
I just used imovie with this. a few effects here or there but generally a plain edit. The actress is my friend Lauren who did me a favor. We filmed for 2 days and i edited the movie for 2 more, along with drawing all the of doodles you see here and the painting shown in the end. Gawd I only had 5 hours to get the painting done so please no penalization for how horribly cliche it is. (not mention how poorly constructed it turned out.)
Please enjoy and please don't forget. I'll edit in more here later.
*I do not own Thriving Ivory's song Angels on the moon.*
That is amazing... I lost my uncle in 9-11. That is great and very touching.
