@wwwakinmotorscom The Port of Brownsville,Texas has a yard that scraps old vessels. Some of the items are resold right next to the scrapyard in a small retail location. I pass by once a week to do buisiness in Brownsville, and every time a little more of the ship is taken away. I am an ex U.S. Coast Guardsman and it is sad to see because you do begin respect your vessel as it is all you have miles out at sea. A sad reality, but it is much cheaper for the companies to scrap it and build new. Geo

Hi mr Van it's Tomas
The death of a ship. You work hard to keep her seaworthy, clean, sound and safe, you spend six month on board making her your home..then you have to beach her this way, stop the engines for the last time, shutting off the generators, stopping the ventilation...the ship breaths no more. and you feel so bad......i was on board once in the same occasion. sooo sad!
