Well, naturally they think she's ugly, if you'd noticed every single one of those bugs are ugly as heck! Lol So their ideal of "beauty" is not our own. heh.
For those of you saying "poor Thumbelina" you you should probably see that this applies to you too.
In life, you will come across many people who will try to tell you who you are. And what's "cool" and what's not. If you noticed, she wasn't comfortable in that suit but she wanted to be accepted. Lol, it's best to just "follow your heart."
