Super Metroid - Draygon - Grappling Beam

Draygon beaten using the Grappling Beam trick. Played in real time on Snes9x v1.43 rerecording.

To do this, destroy the turrets on both walls as normal and then just roll into a ball until Draygon stops swooping down at you. Let one of its little white thingies stick to you, so Draygon will pick you up, and select the grappling beam. Now, while Draygon is swimming around in a circle, fire the grappling beam so it attaches to one of the destroyed turrets. You'll send electricity through your suit into Draygon, frying it in a matter of seconds and scoring you an easy victory.

When Draygon grabs you, is there any sort of pattern of when he attacks you or is it just random? I've tried testing this and it seems like he just attacks you whenever he wants.

I don't know, I've never tested that. It seems like whenever I use the Grappling Beam trick there's always plenty of time for me to grapple a turret before getting hit, but if I get picked up while fighting it normally it sometimes hits me right away. So it may depend on how much damage Draygon has taken, but I can't say for sure.

This boss's death scene was kind of sad. Seeing the youngs carry the mother's body underground.

@iPodDude21 Draygon is a female... And its not uncommon for most metroid games to have major bosses that are hideious looking females with hives or offspring...

If this game had an Achievement system, I imagine this, along with finding the etecoons and dachoras and making Ridley fumble the baby Metroid in the beginning would be perfect Achievement material.

If you think about it, this makes sense. You kinda electrocute Draygon...

You are in a TON of water.... your Grapple Beam is made from electricity, and you connect it to MORE electricity, the current rushes through Samus's suit, hurting her but electrocuting Draygon, killing it.

I fouught him the normal way. When I won I felt like "yahu! Im the best!"

After seeing this I felt "gosh... iam so dumb. I destroyed those turrets and dindn't ask what they were for. I nearly died for no reason"
