Guro Jeff describes how to transition from a reverse grip to forward grip and back while using a kerambit.
This is a method taught in Neo Tribe Kali.

@tradfan Folding kerambits are fine as long as you understand their limitations. In the context of using the kerambit as I specified in my other post, I probably would not trust my finger even a solid knife like a Cold Steel brand. Event hough they test their locks with an insane amount of weight and force, a one in a million failure is not worth the loss of limb.
Hope that helps. :-)

@tradfan I saw this and thought I would chime in. 5.11 knives are great! Like Guro Jeff, prefer fixed blade kerambits. The benifit of the fixed blade is having the double edge. Also, if you have a fixed blade that does for have a double edge, you can still use the flat of the back of the blade to strike with in transition to your cuts and tears with the edge. Using a folding Kerambit like that is scary. If the liner lock breaks or unlocks, the knife closes and you chop your fingers off.

Good video. Why don't you use the ring to transition? I find it's easier to use

@BLIZZANGMANG
Hello! Thank you I don't keep the finger in the ring during transition on the chance that an opponent will grab a hold of my hand with my finger stuck in the ring. Many people believe that the kerambit has a strong point in that the grip is secure, and it is when held in one position; however, when transitioning, the fingers become loose, move and may be caught in the transition with the finger still in the ring. Trying to avoid potential breaks or stresses on the fingers

Hello Guro Jeff, I wondered if you have any opinion on the 5.11 folding karambits.
Thank you.

They seem like a very well made product, but personally, I only use fixed blade kerambits. Sorry I can't provide greater detail than that.

hi thee, im looking into a kerambit to use in my off hand for aid in firearm retention, in my state fixed blades arent legal to carry concealed, if i used a kerambit for my offhand that means i would have to use with the blade up ring down, as i have to reach across my body to get to the attacker, is there a good folding kerambit you can recommend for off hand pocket carry?
