i love this song, have for decades. sublime musical art that can hold up to time in my opinion. I always loved music that could give me fantastical imagery as I listened to it, and especially the ones that could connect the bridge from the fantastic to the real world, and be solid in both, and let me sway in between as my mood wandered. in that regard, this is one of the very best.

I've been loving her music since the 70's but "Because the Night" was the first song I heard her sing and the album is the first of hers I bought. Still have it in fact. There's nothing wrong with being heard by a larger audience and I'll bet she has no problem with the popularity of that song. I really hate the idea that only small bands with small audiences are allowed to have artistic credibility.
