'Requiem' a song for Shelter Animals by Rich Russom

A magnificent song by Rich Russom inspiring the world to help shelter animals.

Requiem was recorded as an Anglo/American collaboration between Rich Russom and Paul Killington. The song was composed and performed by Rich in America featuring a guitar solo played by Paul in the UK.


''Requiem, which means funeral song, is dedicated to all the animals who never made it to their forever homes and who are waiting for us on the other side.

The song says instrumentally what Paul & I find so hard to put into words.'

I know alot of people who would love to adopt animals from the shelters, but if they rent an apartment, so many landlords now days will not allow you to have a dog or a cat.  I feel so bad for the animals. Fantastic music and one

Thank you so much sherrywine1941, I appreciate your comment and it is sad that many people are unable to have a companion pet in rented housing, it's the same here in UK, but there are other ways to help, walking the dogs, taking blankets in, raising funds, posting appeals on the internet, every good deed counts and shelters appreciate the help so much, all my best to you :)

I've rescued two dogs, one a terrier mix and another a Newfoundlander, what a shame people don't understand that theyre just looking for love and guidance. People buy animals as trophies, only to find out they're a wondrous, determined child.

You are so right! Animals can only be what they are, sadly people keep them for a myriad of wrong reasons and then their lives are cut short or miserable. I hope one day we look back and say we were wrong but we put things right, that's what mistakes are for, to rectify, and there should never be unwanted animals or people.

It is a shame that property owners of rentals don't allow pets and they should, yes some people are irresponsible for their pets but the majority are good caretakers and care well for their animals. I too have found a lot of rentals that denied me but I was lucky I am diagnosed with depression and the psychologist and doctors I was seeing at the time wrote me a letter and everytime I show it to landlords they let me in with the animal.

Such a moving piece. My heart aches for those precious souls whose hearts are locked behind the bars in shelters, waiting in vain for someone upon whom they can lavish that immense love they have to give. Whose hopeful eyes finally fade into acceptance of their fate. Whose lives are ended with a needle (if they're lucky) at the hands of strangers. Who did no wrong, other than being born in a world where breeders glut the world with too many, and too few homes. God bless them all....and you.

i belive that animals have a right to live a life just like us i have 2 wounderful dogs one a male and one is a female i love them both the same you know every year between 6 to 8 million dogs and cats enter shelters across the united stste it's time for us to speak up for them they don't have a voice but we do if you care about animals speak for them now please i hate seeing animals gitting abuse it's not fear to them and ppl are stupid lating there dogs fight agents one another

@TobyDawns I agree. People just don't care these days. All they want is money. Animals just one love and care. Is that to difficult to give? They feel the pain just as much as we do. They deserve some kindness. Great job on rescuing those dogs! :) lol....i rescued a baby duck in the middle of the road... :)

Aniamls need a home. Thats ALL thwy ask for. Can we not give them that? They have a life to. They feel pain just like we do. Care people. Put yourself into their position. It won't feel great. All they need is help, and i gues it's "to difficult" to do that. I know money is tight, but if you see one on the side of the road, take it somewhere safe. That's all. Love and care. But we are so selfish. All we think of is bling, money. But do animals have all that? No. I'm on the animals side. Are you?
