You know those people at the side of the catwalk? Who are they, why are they there and what do they write on those clip boards??

they're buyers. items on the catwalk are most times one of a kind. the designer makes the item depending on how many orders they get from the people with the clipboards.

designers pull from a pool of models. Designers dont usually keep their own models exclusively for themselves unless they are super models that represent their label (ie. tyra banks / victorias secret) What makes the difference is the mood of the show, how they are told to act on the run way, the clothes, accessories and the make up.
