Hi - I don't think I noticed what wool weight/crochet hook you were using? Is there a particular weight you would recommend?

@Mooneybeams1 you could use a 4ply worsted weight yarn and a sz I or J hook for this project......that what mikey is using here.....also if you look on the paper band thats wrapped around your yarn it says what hook is recommended for the yarns weight etc......hope this helps.....cathy@mikeys helpdesk :)
