Me Riding Panic Plunge at Silverwood

Here I am on the Panic Plunge ride at Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, ID. Panic Plunge carries riders up a 140 foot tower and, once at the top, drops them at a speed approaching 50 mph.

2005 was the second time I had ever been to Silverwood and the first time I had ever been brave enough to ride the roller coasters (I was 24 at the time). I don't know why I was so scared, but after the first ride, I was hooked. Now I'll go on all of the rides without hesitation (except for Thunder Canyon. After a bad experience as a child on a similar ride, I have no desire to ride this one). So when I saw the ads for Panic Plunge, I wanted to ride it. And ride it I did.

It was really fun, although it did end up hurting my back (to be fair, I do have pre-existing back problems. Have I mentioned that I was 25 when this was shot?). But that's O.K., the lesson I learned was to ride Panic Plunge at the end of the day instead.

A quick word about the video: It's long and kind of boring. I don't know why they make those guys move over, but that slowed down the entire process. The ride up to the top is long, and the plunge is very short. My wife (then fiancée) shot this on my hacked CVS disposable (hooray for the MAKE blog!) and that's her voice you hear narrating.

If you have trouble hearing what I say at the end, it's, "your, like, ass isn't even on the seat for the whole ride. It's awesome!"

Looks to short, same with the Tower of terror, you wait for two hours and the rides a couple minutes

@The28amigos Yeah, that was one my biggest complaints. I waited in line for ages, and then the ride was really short. That ratio is _way_ off.

First, 2012 apocalypse stuff is total B.S. It's based on incorrect conclusions to well understood data, simple misconceptions, and complete lies.

Second, if you were going to die anyway, why wouldn't you a ride a scary or dangerous ride? You may as well if you know you're going to die! -)

panic plunge was way scarier than aftershock to me... i hate how they put the mirrors above you so you don't know when you'll stop!!! but it was fun

Let's see takes about a minute to get to the top and 5 seconds to get back down...but it seems so much longer when your body and mind are telling you that YOU ARE GONG TO DIE!!! LOL!! Totally worth the wait! The day we

went the lines weren't so long for this ride. To me long lines= popular place. I'd say Silverwood is fun!
